A review of “A Frog in the Fjord” in 100 words by Catherine Stover
What makes a travelogue interesting? For starters, a promising premise – such as “a frog in the fjord” – helps. But for a book to become a bestseller, and to be recommended by a premier travel magazine, there needs to be more than that. In addition to seeing data and description, readers need to enjoy the company of the storyteller. We want to see what makes her surprised or delighted or frustrated. We want to laugh with her. When a reviewer writes, “I adore her,” we know the author’s personality has shaped the experience. Count me as a fan of this author.
