“The sky gathered again, and the sun grew round that very day.”

A review of “Fern Hill” in 100 words by Catherine Stover

This quote is from the poem “Fern Hill,” written by Dylan Thomas, one of the greatest Welsh poets of all time. My Welsh Airbnb host included it in his description of the changeable weather, which is one indication of the poem’s current popularity. However, Dylan Thomas has not always been beloved by the locals. His contemporaries considered him a troublemaker who was frequently broke and drank too much. Decide for yourself if you like “Fern Hill,” which ends like this: “Oh as I was young . . . Time held me green and dying, though I sang in my chains like the sea.”
