“and then there are days when the simple act of breathing leaves you exhausted.”

A review of “the sun and her flowers”  in 100 words by Catherine Stover

In 1999,  the New York Times ran an article about “probably the most popular poet in America” – Billy Collins – and his unprecedented six-figure publishing contract for three books. The backlash at that time was significant, but it pales in comparison to today’s backlash at probably the most popular poet in the world, rupi kaur, who has sold more than 11 million books. Across academia, kaur is rarely acknowledged. Come on, people! Aren’t you curious? Instead of comparing her work to Hallmark cards, why not find out why she resonates with so many readers? Her poetry is relevant, honest, and fearless.
